Looking for free webpage Flash templates?

A webpage template is a ready-made design for a webpage. Since a template is already pre-made for you, you cut down on time and effort rather than having to develop the code for the webpage from scratch.

What comes with a webpage template?

The advantages of using free webpage templates are many and obvious. Putting up your own webpage (whether for personal, home or business use) is much less difficult that it was ten, five or even three years ago. Your go-to solution is simply a ready-made, downloadable and totally free webpage template!

Free webpage templates are compatible with Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Frontpage and other web site design software. Any webpage template should come with Adobe Photoshop and/or Macromedia Flash source files. This will enable you to further customize your template according to your needs and preferences. For customizing a webpage template, the most widely used tool is Adobe Dreamweaver, an HTML editor. Most downloadable templates nowadays are designed to be customizable on Dreamweaver.

Webpage templates can also include a graphical template developed in Adobe Photoshop. This will make it much easier for you to customize the graphics and images included in your page or template.

However, since most sites that use free webpage templates are for personal use, downloadable free webpage templates come with fewer bells and whistles than, say, an e-commerce or pay template.

What is Flash?

Macromedia Flash, or simply known as Flash, essentially refers to two things. The first is a multimedia authoring program while the second is Macromedia Flash Player, the player used to display animations written on the authoring program. Both are written and distributed by Macromedia. Flash’s distinguishing factors are threefold: it uses vector and raster graphics, a proprietary scripting language called ActionScript, and bidirectional streaming of video and audio.

Flash files, usually with an SWF file extension, are most commonly used as animations, advertisements, or design elements on webpages. Flash files can contain more complex and diverse information than GIF or JPEG files of the same size. For this reason, Flash is one of the most popular technologies on the Web, with literally hundred of thousands of websites using it for intros, animations and ads.

Why should I use a webpage template with Flash?

For several simple reasons. First, the Flash plugin (which is needed to view Flash files) is installed on nearly every computer that is connected to the Net. Today, all major browsers come with it installed by default and, for those who don't have it, the download is very small. Second, Flash is a 'vector based' program, which means the files created using it, whether with animations or graphics, are much smaller in size than a video or streaming media version of the same file would be. You can also include sound, graphics and other moving information in your animation.

Where can I find Flash webpage templates?

You can try checking out the following sites for downloadable webpage templates that support Flash animations. You’ll find a mix of both simple and free templates as well as more complex but paid templates.
